Reiki and Animals F.A.Q.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is not a religion;
it is a holistic, light-touch, energy-based healing method introduced to
Japan by Tendai Buddhist priest, Mikao Usui (Pronounced Mick-cow
Ew-suey), during the early 1900's. How can Reiki Benefit Animals
How Does Reiki Work on Animals? Because animals respond so well to Reiki, the healing energy gently and effectively opens blocked meridians (an energy pathway or channel) and chakras (an energy receptor/transmission center) clearing the energy bodies of blockages, accumulated toxins and lower energy vibrations. By freeing and re-aligning the animal’s energy system on all levels – emotional, mental, physical and spiritual, deep relaxation is created to help restore their energy balance and vitality. As symptoms, such as pain or allergies are released, general health is further restored. Emotional body –
Reiki calms, soothes, balances and disperses negative feelings such as
fear, abandonment, anger/rage, rejection or despair.
Does an Animal Need
to Believe
What Happens to an
Animal During a Reiki Treatment? A full healing session may take from 30 minutes up to 60 minutes, depending on size. The animal may instinctively move away when they have had sufficient healing. The practitioner may intuitively target key areas or move in a particular pattern over the animal’s body. If it’s impossible to physically touch the animal, then Reiki energy is sent via distant/absentee healing (taught in Reiki Level 2) to its auric level (energy field surrounding its physical body) and the healing energy automatically travels to where it is needed. Usually the animal will experience total relaxation often falling asleep during treatment and waking up when it has had enough, but the experience is unique to each animal and to each situation. After a treatment, the animal will be more relaxed and will often want to nap. Animals establish their own way of showing their gratitude. Many will promptly lick or rub against you, tail wag or communicate either by sound or telepathically. As with humans, after a Reiki treatment, it is important to provide the animal with plenty of pure drinking water, further helping to eliminate toxins and impurities from its body, plus to circulate energy throughout its body.
