Reiki Distant Healing Overview

Learning Reiki Distant Healing
Reiki distant healing techniques are taught after receiving attunement to Reiki Level 2 (the professional practitioner's level), where the student consciously learns to direct the flow of Reiki.  At this level the student learns the usage and conscious application using three Reiki symbols - the power symbol (Cho-Ku-Rei) , the mental/emotional symbol (Sei-He-Ki) and the distant/absentee symbol (Hon-Sha-Ze-Sho-Nen).

For Reiki distant healing application, the distant/absentee symbol is crucial for the entire process. This symbol bridges distance, time and space, as well as past, present and future. The Reiki practitioner consciously directs Reiki (or universal energy) through the use of Reiki symbols and each symbol is associated to a specific function and intention.  Contrary to belief, it's not the symbol that carries the power.  Rather, it is the energy created by the intention and focus of the user for what the symbol is designed to perform.

How Reiki Distant Healing Works
The heart chakra works in direct correlation to the Astral Plane, which is situated just above the body's aura and as the Reiki practitioner channels energy from the Universal Source into their physical body, the energy is redirected to their heart chakra.  The Reiki practitioner's heart acts as a transformer, transforming the channelled energy back into  loving, spiritual energy before telepathically transporting Reiki, via the Astral Plane, to assist in the client's healing process.

Distant healing (also called absentee or remote healing) requires significantly less treatment time, because Reiki energy bars no boundaries as it  instantly travels through time and space.  For example, an average hands-on treatment takes 45-minutes to 1-hour, whereas a distant healing treatment may take 10 to 20 minutes. In order for a Reiki practitioner to be a more effective distant healer, it is crucial that they strengthen not only their physical, emotional and mental bodies, but also their spiritual connection to the universal source, also referred to as universal consciousness, God consciousness or super-consciousness.

Preparation
Whenever utilizing energy, it is essential to take proper precautions for practicing grounding, cleansing and protection techniques, before and after, sending Reiki distant healing.

It is also advisable for the practitioner to deep-breathe while channelling and circulating the Reiki energy (from the universal source) through their body, rather than use their own energy reserve.  And as with regular hands-on treatment, a practitioner should avoid sending Reiki distant healing if they are ill, tired, under the influence of mind-altering drugs or are intoxicated.

Arrangement
Reiki distant healing is generally requested by friends or family for individuals who do not live locally or who are unable to travel.  The Reiki practitioner may  obtain the client's permission either by e-mail, fax, telephone, directly in person or psychically.  If permission from any of these sources is unavailable, then the Reiki practitioner can, by focus and intention, direct the healing energy to the client's spirit team (guides, angels, etc.) who will then re-direct it to the client at the appropriate time.

Some Reiki practitioners prefer to arrange a suitable preset time frame with the client in which to send Reiki healing energy and also for receiving feedback.  However, this method is not always feasible due to conflicting schedules or time-zone differences.

Another easy and practical method is where the Reiki practitioner sets an "intention" beforehand.  This is especially useful if the client is unknown to them, plus it eliminates the need for arranging appointments.  Reiki can then be sent on a "timed-release" basis with the "intention" that the client may receive and draw upon the healing energy at the most appropriate time, whenever it is needed and however long it is needed.  The Reiki practitioner can be very creative by setting the "intention" to cover any specifics they desire.  Once the intention is established, just allow it to flow freely without interference or restrictions or over-focusing on it.

Although feedback from the client is not always necessary, in order to build greater awareness and confidence in both the practitioner and the client, it is an added benefit to both if a response is given as to whether treatment proved beneficial or if continued distant healing is required.

Transmission Style
One simple, uncomplicated method is to send Reiki distant healing while in a light meditative state and to perform each Reiki function as if the client was in the same room receiving a hands-on treatment, except the process is done totally through visualization and through using intuition.

Other methods include using a surrogate substitute such as a picture, teddy bear, diagram, flower, Reiki box or a globe.  There isn't any absolute right or wrong method and generally a practitioner will choose a style that is functional and comfortable to their own individual preference.

Some Reiki practitioners work collectively as a global group.  They schedule a preset time and date where together they consciously send Reiki distant healing for a specific purpose and intention.

Benefits of Distant Treatment
Although distant healing does not replace the benefits of a personal hands-on Reiki experience, it does however warrant special consideration for assisting with unique circumstances.

Clients do report significant change or improvement after a distant healing treatment.  But of course the benefits remain temporary until the client is prepared to wholly participate in the healing process by making positive adjustments to their thinking, awareness and behaviour patterns, as well as their overall lifestyle.

Other Advantages
Reiki distant treatment is also beneficial for aiding wildlife that are too dangerous for hands-on treatment and for improving global conditions created by famine, war, floods, hurricanes, poverty, storms, drought, tidal waves, earthquakes, etc.
