Recognizing Fear Emotions are what you feel from your energetic emotional body, which radiates anywhere from 1-1/2 feet to 5 feet from your physical body. While you may revel in the feelings of happiness, joyfulness, or contentedness, there is the flip side in which you can become caught in the debilitating emotion called fear. How do you define or describe fear? Is fear when you feel worried or anxious? Is fear when you feel that you are in danger or become frightened? Is fear when you feel panic welling up inside? And once you are caught in the grip of fear, have you ever stopped to analyze what it does to you physically, mentally or emotionally? Do you become powerless and helpless? Do you feel trapped? Do you become totally paralyzed, afraid to move or change? Or do you become terrified to just be your true authentic self? The onset of fear can start from the early stages of childhood and it can be instilled into you through conditioning by well-intentioned parents, siblings, friends, clergy, teachers or co-workers. Quite often these people implant their own greatest fears onto you without consciously realizing their error. How many are squeamish of spiders or snakes, not because you had a bad experience with them, but because you saw another person squeal and retract in fear. Since you learn through association, you copy their reaction and their fear now becomes your fear. How many fear that you will suffer damnation and endure purgatory if you are not an honest, upstanding citizen? No doubt you realize that perhaps fear was instilled through well-intentioned church doctrines in order to eradicate criminal activity. There is nothing like putting the fear of God into you. As you continue through life, you will experience many types of fear and these will surface in varying degrees at different stages of your life. Entering school is no easy task and most likely you will face fear every time you write an examination or just before you receive your grades. Even discovering which teacher you get can create certain fear. As you enter the job market, many will face the fear of whether they have chosen the right profession or whether they will be hired by prospective employers. And for entrepreneurs, surely you will face the fear of whether you attain success. Contemplating marriage can induce fear - did you make the right choice of partner, will your love last forever or will you stay satisfied and happy into old age. As you enter middle age, how many have a fear of losing your job to younger competition or fear from the natural aging process, especially once balding, grey hair, wrinkles, bags or added weight compound. How many fear of becoming ill where you lose your independence or in the worse case scenario fear the inevitable fact of dying? Fear can also be a resistance to knowing or accepting the truth about you - the deep inner you. If you probe deeply, how many will admit to having a resistance for change? The major reason for having fear is being uncertain about the unknown. If you don't have to step out of your comfort zone, how many will willingly step up to the challenge and do it regardless? After-all, this requires work, dedication, inner strength and most importantly this requires honesty of self through self-inquiry and acknowledgment. Fear can also create rejection for accepting yourself, forgiving yourself and loving yourself exactly for the way you are and for who you are. But your purpose for incarnation in this lifetime is to change and grow so that you continually advance your soul's spiritual progress. Your soul wants and needs each experience, good or bad, so that it can obtain further knowledge and wisdom, plus learn valuable lessons. It cannot do this if fear is blocking its path. So what is the best way to conquer fear? Undoubtedly, the best and fastest way to shed fear is by facing what you are afraid of - dead on. Stop what you are doing, turn around and look at it deeply into the core of its being. But first you must be able to recognize and acknowledge what your fears are before you can face them. Make a list and then ask yourself what created them, do they make sense and question why you allow these fears to over-power or stagnate you. What are you truly afraid of? Evaluate the pros and cons of your fears. How do they benefit your life or how do they diminish the quality of your life? Do they affect just you or do they affect others or your surrounding living environment? Are they creating unhappiness, discontent, illness or even depression? Fear is also comprised of a lower energy vibration that some refer to as negative energy. So instead of becoming fixated on the fear itself, focus on the end result. For instance, if you have a fear of flying think about how much freedom you will gain by getting on the plane to reach your destination. Think about how much fun you will enjoy once you reach your destination. By doing this you automatically raise the energy to a higher vibration, which in turn releases energy blockages within you. Each time you release an energy blockage, the more balanced you become. The more balanced you become, the healthier and happier you will be. Resist trying to overcome all of your fears at once. Instead face them one by one. At certain times in your life you will feel stronger than at other times, so carefully choose one that you are able to handle at that specific time. Each fear that you release will in turn strengthen your self-esteem and enhance your self-worth. In turn you will be empowered with a certain confidence that formerly escaped you. If you feel that you are unable to overcome your fears on your own, enlist professional help, but the main thing is that you use a method that you are totally comfortable with and that you work with someone whom you trust. Living a balanced, healthy life is vital to your well-being. But you must keep yourself in check from all levels - mind, body and spirit. Your emotions are affected by your thinking pattern and vice-versa, which in turn affects your physical well-being and in turn will either stunt or expand your spiritual growth. It is like a domino effect where one part can affect the others quite drastically. If you allow fear to dominate you, then you only hurt yourself, because you will be unable to progress, plus you will be unable to learn the necessary lessons that your soul requires. In reality, if you always dwell on your fears, then this is the energy that you will attract. Simply stated, like energy attracts like energy, which gives you more reason to eradicate this from your life. You create your own reality and certainly most people would not want to live a life based on fear. And one other thought to keep in mind, whatever fear you cannot overcome in this lifetime, you will be faced with in your next incarnation. So do you really want to repeat the same cycle?
