What is Numerology?
Numerology is a language of numbers; a system based on energy vibrations. Ancient cultures including Chinese, Egyptian, Roman, East Indian, Hebrew and Grecian embraced numerology as a valued metaphysical science, but now in current times it is used as a helpful tool for mobilizing self-understanding, knowledge and wisdom.

Your birth date, plus your original birth names are used to compile a personal chart. Nicknames, married names and changed names are also required. Depending on the numerologist’s method, sometimes the time of birth is also required. Each letter of your name correlates to a number and each number correlates to an energy vibration of individual meaning, sound and colour that are used to explore larger realities concerning your life’s blueprint, soul’s mission and personal characteristics (strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, talents or gifts) at a deeper, inner soul level.

Contrary to what you may believe, numerology is not meant to solely predict the future. Rather, it offers valuable insight, plus opens your awareness by revealing possibilities, challenges, opportunities, transitions and lessons to be learned, thus enabling the manifestation for a more positive, balanced, fulfilling and successful life journey. In all cases your “free will” prevails for whether to accept or decline these indicators.

Different Schools of Numerology
As with any modality, numerology is not limited to just one style. Distinct schools of study are Asian and Western or even a combination of the two. Most numerology offered in today’s Western society are adaptations from the method first organized by Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras some 2,500 years ago.

There is also the Kabalarian philosophy of numerology which regards its theory as being a more advanced system. By having a balanced name it makes it more plausible to attain a full and complete life - mentally, physically and spiritually.

How is a Numerology Reading Constructed?

Computerized – A numerologist may use a computer generated program in which they fill in the preset blank fields with required information and a reading is automatically generated. The amount of detailed information supplied depends on which fields and descriptive information are designed into the computer program. Some programs allow the numerologist to make slight descriptive modifications for more personalization, while others don’t. The advantage to this method is time – a reading can be produced almost immediately and possibly received the same day as ordered or within the week, depending on the numerologist’s work schedule.

Manually - Other numerologists (such as myself) prefer to hand calculate the numerology reading using the computer (but not a computerized program) mainly for two reasons. First, a computerized program isn’t readily available that is customized to handle their unique style. Secondly, hand calculation offers an interesting challenge, which is personally more stimulating and fulfilling. The downside is that it takes longer to construct – most likely anywhere between four to ten days, depending on the numerologist’s work schedule.

Size of Numerology Reading
This is determined by what information the numerologist includes in their reading. Some numerologists may offer custom readings designed to explore one particular theme, such as romance, career, finances, energy flow, compatibility or a yearly and monthly time range; therefore the reading may amount to just a few pages. An all-inclusive, comprehensive reading usually produces 20 to 35 pages of material.

How to Obtain a Numerology Reading

Do it yourself – Take a course or read books and then practice, practice and practice. However, this method isn’t suitable to everyone unless you have plenty of time to read, investigate and practice, plus you must be detail-oriented. If you decide to explore and study numerology, just be aware that one or two books will not supply complete information. There are numerous books available, but each author has their own unique style for explaining theory and procedures, which can create confusion in itself.

Local Numerologist – If there is a numerologist in your area, you have the option to discuss your requirements either in person, by phone or by e-mail. Once you establish contact, you will still need to supply the required personal information, as well as establish a method for payment. The completed reading is either mailed or e-mailed in a downloadable format. A consultation in person is not really required, because most numerology readings are designed to be self-explanatory. If any queries do arise, this can be adequately dealt with by phone or by e-mail.

Internet – Many numerologist offer services via their website. Payment is established either by Paypal, credit card or a bank draft and the numerology reading is either mailed or e-mailed upon completion.

How to Find a Professional Numerologist
Unless a numerologist has been highly recommended from a trusted source, it is difficult to really know whether you found an honest, knowledgeable and reliable one.

There are no guarantees, but sometimes you can gain insight about the numerologist by reading their website. This will supply clues as to whom they are, what they offer and how they conduct business and from this, you will usually get a positive or negative gut feeling – pay attention to what your intuition tells you.
