Do you Ever

 Do you ever question what life is supposed to be about,
or what your higher purpose should really entail?
Where you search through books or take a multitude of courses,
and flit from teacher to teacher, but alas tread an empty trail.

Do you ever question why you were born,
or why you chose your parents, family and friends?
No doubt there is a purposeful connection,
to learn, heal and grow until you reach life’s end.

 Do you ever wonder why you feel profound emptiness,
after experiencing exuberance or false satisfaction?
Especially following a dream based on material acquisition,
or a personal conquest crafted from wrongful action.

Do you ever stop to think about life in global terms,
about what your greater contribution should be?
Can you act with truth and purposeful cause,
and be an encouraging factor for others to see?

Do you ever need to be in the company of people,
in order to ensure fun and pleasure?
Or does meditation, where you’re lost in deep thinking,
create the same rewards, whenever at your leisure?

 Do you ever think about personal responsibility,
for how you live and think or how you re-act each day?
Isn’t it easier to blame another or a situation at hand,
than to shift awareness or outlook no matter what others say.

Do you ever want to just “have it all,”
without knowing what “all” really is?
And are your wants based on envy or greed,
instead of being centered on achieving inner bliss?

 Do you ever want to run away and hide,
instead of facing the demons that haunt your soul?
Realize that you can run, but cannot hide for long,
before truth brings clarity for what you already know.

 Do you ever feel that you place yourself last,
behind certain obligations or menial tasks?
Now it is time to change positions,
that will encourage growth, plus heal the present and the past.
