Spiritual/Inspirational Poetry
Awakening to: "Who am I?"
At some point in life you have probably pondered this very question,
only to be stymied by feelings of confusion upon deliberate reflection.
It is true that most people determine who they are by material gain,
or whether they have made an impression by perhaps achieving fame.
But in reality, none of this applies to who you really are,
because there is a deeper level to this question, truthfully, by far.
Once this search for, "Who am I?" becomes an ultimate goal,
a natural progression happens to blend body, mind and soul.
In order to receive clarity when asking, "Who am I?"
first
release your tenacious grip to allow the ego to die.
This applies in a metaphorical sense, of course,
which must be done quite willingly, without undue force.
"Who am I?" should be asked while in a calm state of mind,
during meditation would be a perfect time.
Once the chitter-chatter of the mind quiets to a calm halt,
the answers arise swiftly, for sure, without any doubt.
And as you open to realize that you are more than what you see,
this development unravels hidden secrets for all that you
can be.
Awareness filters through replacing old thoughts and patterns,
once ingrained so deeply that you only heard non-stop chattering.
But when you are awakened and begin to question, "Who am I?"
A spark ignites an inner flame, to your soul…..which never dies.
It patiently waits for the moment when you are stirred to pursue,
higher knowledge or wisdom about the real authentic you.
And in your search for truth, it is revealed in subtle ways,
which may take years to learn or sometimes only days.
"Who am I?" cannot be answered by someone other than you.
because this is a personal journey that only you can do.
It requires daily discipline, dedication and honest work,
it's an on-going ritual and one that can't be shirked.
But soon you will discover as you continue along this course,
that there is a bigger picture, where you're part of a greater force.
Asking, "Who am I?" is a significant part of your quest,
for this exposes an interest for passing spiritual tests.
And each test has a purpose designed to improve your soul,
for this is who you are......a spirit, who is part of the whole.
