Spiritual/Inspirational Poetry

A Blanket of Snow

When the city is covered in snow there is a greater power at hand,
heeding prompt attention that it wields total command.
Each delicate ice-formed crystal has a uniqueness of its own,
with intricate patterns of pureness that deceive to look like clones.

Viewing from inside out, reveals a vast expanse of whiteness
that’s cool to the touch, while offering pure serene brightness.
It’s a winter blanket that enfolds all beneath in quiet solitude,
a bounty from the universe that nothing can easily elude.

Even the birds and animals are struggling just to survive,
as they shiver searching for food beneath snow drifts piled high.
The sky shows layers of grey with a promise of showering rain,
but then, week after week, it turns into a waiting game.

Perhaps this is a sign to unwind into the flow,
for as the snow keeps falling, there is really nowhere to go.
The roads are clogged with ice that makes tires spin,
shovelling is an option, but it doesn’t always win.

It’s dangerous commuting about; slipping and sliding around,
precaution is a must to avoid a fall to the ground.
And patience must be exercised each moment of the day,
the snow teaches about thoughtfulness and caring in other ways.

When a city is covered in snow it creates a challenge for each,
offering a chance to learn what the universe is trying to teach.
It’s learning how to slow down; allowing a natural course,
unimpeded by ego with a desire to triumph by force.

So as the snow washes away, the city is cleansed once again,
and life returns to normal enriched by what has been gained.
The snow is a reprieve, to be either loathed or enjoyed,
an intense balance through nature, most suitably employed.
